14th Annual “H. S. Hoops Showdown” Announced

Lisle, IL --- The Integrity Group today confirmed the pairings for next season’s “High School Hoops Showdown”. The nationally known event, which has averaged close to 5,000 fans, returns to the Sears Centre Arena, in Hoffman Estates. The triple-header is set for Saturday, January 22, 2011.

Game 1 (4:30 tip-off), --- they’re back! That’s right, one of the most intense, and long-running “rivalries” returns for an encore presentation as Marmion Academy (17-10) takes on archrival Aurora-Central Catholic (16-12). When they met last season, the "Cadets" scored a come-from-behind victory to even the series at 34 victories each. Next time around, Marmion figures to be lead by Eddy Grahovec (5-11, G), while the "Chargers" will look for leadership among several returning players who logged significant minutes last season.

In Game 2 (6:30 tip-off), it’s Lockport Township (21-9) making their first “showdown” appearance, against Schaumburg (17-12). The “Porters”, SW Suburban Blue co-champions, return several key players and will feature Karrington Ward (6-5, G/F) a finalist in last year’s IHSA 4A “slam dunk” competition. The “Saxons”, one of the state tournament Cinderella teams last season (made it to the Waukegan Sectional Championship before losing to Waukegan and Mr. Illinois Basketball, Jereme Richmond), also return key starters and are led by Javon McDonald (5-10, PG).

Game 3 (8:30 tip-off) is a rematch of last season’s Neuqua Valley Sectional Championship. It features the Top-2 teams in the Daily Herald’s final rankings, as well as a head-to-head meeting of respective Conference Player’s of the Year, when Lisle-Benet Academy (26-4) meets Lombard-Glenbard East (27-2). The “Redwings”, the defending East Suburban Catholic Conference champions, who lost in the Hinsdale Central supersectional to eventual 4A State Champion Chicago-Simeon, in 2OT, are led by David Sobolewski (6-1, G). The “Rams”, the defending DuPage Valley Conference champions, are led by Zack Miller (5-10, G).

Last year’s triple-header “showdown” included great teams and great players. In Game 1, then #1 ranked (Daily Herald poll) Glenbard East handled an injury-depleted Jacobs squad by the score of 77-51. In Game 2, the “rivals” matchup, Marmion Academy came up with a furious fourth quarter rally (24-4 in the final four minutes) to overcome archrival Aurora Central Catholic 54-47. In the finale, un- ranked West Aurora, put a scare into #2 ranked Neuqua Valley, by taking them into OT before finally losing 63-57. Next year figures to maintain the same high stand- ards and quality match-ups fans have come to expect.

Tickets, priced at $12.00 for Adults and $10.00 for Students (18 and under), will be available at the schools, Sears Centre Arena Box Office by calling 1-888-SEARS- TIX (732-7784), or on-line at www.searscentre.com. All seats are reserved and sold on a “First Come, First Served” basis.

Within the next week, The Integrity Group plans to announce the teams for their 16th Annual McDonald’sŪ “City-Suburban Showdown”. For more information, on either event, you can visit our web site at www.integritygrp.com, or e-mail us at: info@integritygrp.com
