15th Annual McDonald’s® “City-Suburban Showdown” - revised format and matchups
Lisle, IL --- The Integrity Group confirmed today that its nationally
recognized McDonald’s “City-Suburban Showdown” Boys H.S. Basketball event,
will feature a triple-header for the first time in its history. The
“showdown”, which has averaged close to 7,000 fans, will be held on
Saturday, February 20, 2010. The site will be the UIC Pavilion, in Chicago,
IL. Here are the revised matchups:
In Game 1 (4:30) it’s a battle of two highly regarded Catholic school
programs with big expectations. The “Caravan” from Chicago-Mount Carmel
(20-9), making their first showdown appearance, return a strong nucleus and
will be led by Jr. Tracy Abrams (G, 6-0 - Illinois), an All-Catholic League
performer. They will clash with the “Shamrocks” (19-6) from Chicago-St.
Patrick, who also return several key players and will be led by Jr. Jacob
Williams (SF, 6-5).
Game 2 (6:30) pits Chicago-Simeon Career Academy (18-10) against Chicago-De
La Salle Institute (21-5). The “Wolverines” will be making their second
appearance in the event, and return a number of D1 prospects. They’ll be led
by Brandon Spearman (SG, 6-3 - Dayton). The “Meteors”, the defending Chicago
Catholic League Champions, will be led by Michael Shaw (SF, 6-8) one of the
top-rated Juniors in the state.
Game 3 (8:30) will feature a rematch of last season’s Class 4A Championship Game as Waukegan (26-5) goes up against defending champion Chicago-Whitney Young (26-9). Both teams will be ranked among the Top-3 --- regardless of class --- in most pre-season state polls. The “Bulldogs”, the Class 4A runner-up, return four starters from the most successful team in Waukegan basketball history. They’re led by Sr. Jereme Richmond (SF, 6-7 - Illinois), one of the top-rated players in the nation, and runner-up in the voting for Illinois’ Mr. Basketball. The “Dolphins”, who are loaded with D1 prospects, are deep, experienced, and ready to defend their state crown. They will be lead by Ahmad Starks (PG, 5-9 - Oregon State).
In addition to the varsity talent that will be on display, fans will also be treated to a glimpse of the future as they will get to see the Top-3 rated incoming Freshmen from the Class of 2013. Thomas Hamilton Jr., PF, 6-8 (Whitney Young), Jabari Parker, SG, 6-4 (Simeon), and Alex Foster, WF, 6-7 (De La Salle Institute) are all nationally ranked and could be starting in this exciting triple-header.
Tickets are priced at $12 for Adults and $10 for Students (18 and under) and may be purchased at the schools, or in person, at the UIC Pavilion Ticket Office (312-413-5700). All seats are reserved and sold on a “First Come, First Served” basis, so get your tickets early for the best seats.

The Integrity Group previously announced the teams for its’
13th Annual “High School Hoops Showdown” which
will be held at the Sears Centre Arena, in Hoffman Estates, IL. The date is
Saturday, January 23, 2010. In Game 1 (4:30) of the triple-header format,
it’s Lombard-Glenbard East (20-7) taking on Algonquin-Jacobs (24-4). Game 2
(6:30), the “rivals” match-up, features Aurora Central Catholic (24-4)
against fellow Suburban Catholic Conference foe Aurora-Marmion Academy
(13-14). They will be followed by Game 3 (8:30) as Naperville-Neuqua Valley
(31-2) one of the elite programs in Illinois, takes on traditional power
West Aurora (20-8).
